"Did you know, on average, only 3% of a budget is given to the brick, but amounts to over 60% of the aesthetics..."
This brick was created and designed by ourselves for the UK market. It has been manufactured to the old imperial sizes and comes in a blend of four colours. This is a handmade brick and has been used as a good alternative to a reclaim or old looking brick.
Its uses have varied from alterations to a grade 1 listed building through to complete new builds. We are developing the gallery of completed jobs to show you how suitable this brick is.
The bricks measure 230mm x 70mm x 110mm
This imperial brick will allow you to use less bricks than a standard metric brick. A standard brick uses about 60 bricks per square meter where as our Tanner 70mm use 52 per sq M.
This in turn will save about 15% of brick costs, mortar costs and labour costs!
This smaller 50mm (2 inch) brick is ideally suited to either smaller jobs including fireplaces and internal work or matching the old buildings where only a 2" x 9" brick will do.
The mortar colour can dramatically change the appearance of you brickwork.
When working with old looking, imperial bricks,
we feel it would be right to use a lime based mortar. Details can be got by calling our office on 01937 580580. Thanks.
Clay brick is still one of Europe’s most popular building materials. The previous British Standard Specification for clay bricks, BS 3921, has been completely replaced by a new European CEN Standard Specification for clay masonry units, BS EN 771–1. This European Standard has now been published in the UK as one of the BS EN series of standards.
